Flag carrier Garuda Indonesia's strategic business unit, Citilink, will receive four Airbus A320-200 aircraft in a leasing cooperation agreement with RBS Aviation Capital, the state-owned airline says.
Garuda Indonesia Group CEO Emirsyah Satar and RBS Aviation Capital senior vice president Nicolas Clouet signed the memorandum of understanding Thursday at the Singapore Airshow in Changi.
“With the growing number of aircraft, Citilink has targeted to be one of the main low-cost carriers, in terms of number of passengers, in Indonesia,” Emirsyah said in a press statement sent to The Jakarta Post.
“Garuda Indonesia is an important client of RBS Aviation Capital and we hope that we will continue the cooperation for the next challenging years,” Clouet said.
The aircraft, which will be painted with Citilink’s with go-green paint scheme, will be delivered to Jakarta starting in November this year until February 2013.
In 2011, Citilink ordered 15 A320 standard aircraft and 10 re-engined A320Neo aircraft. The fleet will join the airline in 2014, with five airplanes expected to arrive annually until 2018.
