Economic Club names Donna Zarcone president, CEO
Zarcone replaces Grace Barry, a close friend of former MayorRichard M. Daley's family, who led the organization for 25 years and retired in October. Her departure was several months earlier than planned, but no one has provided details as to why.
Zarcone has three college-age sons and an impressive resume. She serves on the boards of CDW, Cigna Corp. , The Jones Group and The Duchossois Group. She is the former president ofHarley-DavidsonFinancial Services, which helps dealers and customers finance Harley purchases.
But it was the civic and nonprofit world that introduced her to Canning, the chairman of private equity firm Madison Dearborn Partners.
Both serve on the board of directors of the Chicago Club, a regal private social club at Van Buren Street and Michigan Avenue , Canning said.
"That's where I've had the most interaction with her," Canning said. "She was head of the membership committee. Now she's a board member. It's a small board, and we meet quite often."
