Boston Consulting Group hires 17 IIM-A students on first day of placements
The first cluster saw global strategy consulting and international investment banks picking up grads. Companies from FMCG sector like P&G and HUL will come for the second cluster slated for February 17.
IIM-A has neither disclosed the total number of companies that visited the campus nor the number of students who appeared for interviews on the first day.
There were apprehensions that the high-paying foreign banks may disappoint this year in view of discouraging economic conditions. However, campus sources said, finance sector did keep its date with the institute. "I would say, the finance failed to surpass its 2011 performance, but the situation was not like 2009 (when most i-banks failed to turn up after Lehman Brothers triggered global financial meltdown)," said a source who was present on the campus.
IIM-A follows a cluster-based approach where companies from same sectors offering similar roles are grouped together. On Monday, McKinsey & Co., Bain & Co, AT Kearney, Credit Suisse, HSBC , Oliver Wyman and Accenture visited the campus.
