All quiet on the Zellers front
Greenwood’s Zellers will be closing June 2 and Walmart Canada is expected to open a store in the space at some unknown date. Target sold the lease option on the Greenwood Mall location to Walmart last year.
However, the fate of New Minas’ Zellers is still up in the air. The County Fair Mall store was not on the Target list and Hudson’s Bay Canada is mum on the issue.
“We are currently reviewing our options for the Zellers locations not acquired by Target,” spokeswoman Tiffany Bourré said in an email. “We are hoping to have our go-forward strategy this spring.”
County Fair Mall manager Ron Flewwelling has no news to share on the issue, either, other than confirming Zellers is continuing to operate as usual in New Minas.
